Whenever I’ve used this mower to mow reasonably tall grass (up to 5”), it has done a commendable cutting job. But the cutting quality does fumble when you work on wet grass, or there’s too much thatch. So if your grass species or soil type is prone to thatch, make sure you get it dethatched at least once a year. On the whole, the Black and Decker MM2000 has high-grade blades, and provides fine cut quality, except for extremely dense patches interspersed with weeds, where you might need more than one pass.
Height Adjustment
The height setting provided by the Black & Decker MM2000 is exceptionally varied. While any average electric lawn mower offers 4 to 6 variable heights to function at, this mower offers a range of 7 different levels between 1.5 inches to 4 inches. Needless to state, you can make the adjustment using a simple lever that’s connected to all 4 wheels.
Motor Power
The 13 Amp motor that powers the 13 Amp has been specifically designed for the maintenance of small to mid-sized lawns. It’d not be appropriate to compare it with the long-lasting power and performance of gas-based mowers or higher capacity electric and battery-operated models. Cost Effectiveness
At the very first-glance, the Black & Decker MM2000 comes across as an extremely pocket-friendly lawn mower. That’s obviously true, and one of the prime reasons for this machine’s immense popularity. But you should also know that you’ll also need to invest in a good quality extension cord.(FYI- For lengths varying from 25to 50 feet, the 14-gauge cord needs to be purchased, while for anything between 50 to 100 feet, the 12-gauge one would suffice.) Also, the power-generating capacity of the 13 Amp motor is strictly limited for small-sized lawns, and the warranty coverage (as mentioned below) is shorter than most other electrical mowers from other brands. On the whole, this Black and Decker Electric Mower can be deemed as cost-effective if you have a small, even area and not very unruly grass to work on.
